TRIBUTES PAID TO GWYNNETH DUNWOODY
Sad as it is to report the death of Gwynneth Dunwoody, veteran Labour MP, is this also an opportunity for Labour to undo its greatest mistake of recent times?
If Tony Blair could be persuaded – and I frankly don’t think that is likely – would he be willing to stand in Crewe and Nantwich in order to rescue Labour from itself?
With a majority of over 7,000 in the 2005 general election, it would take some kind of earthquake for Labour with or without Blair as prospective MP, to lose this seat.
Then the Labour party would be able to boast a leader who can lead, a visionary with vision and a prime minister without Balls – Ed, that is!
At one stroke we’d be sorted!
He could declare war on terrorism in this land; on the liberal intelligentsia press; on the BNP and its ilk, and immediately take up the helm where he left off – in the middle of everything! Where he belongs.
Of course I can see the headlines now:
BLAIR PARACHUTED INTO DUNWOODY’S SEAT
GWYNNETH TURNING IN HER GRAVE
AN AFFRONT TO DEMOCRACY
And that would be the friendly dailies!
And there’s the little matter of Brown’s agreement. Not to mention Balls and other unknowns. Come to think of it, Brown might actually prefer Blair to Balls as the next PM!
Sick note anyone?
I can but dream ….
R.I.P. Ms Dunwoody
